Halloween Starts Now.

unnamed

The weather in Houston today finally changed from something other than bullshit, so today will be the first Halloween post. I hope all of you are up to no good.

Here are some horror film suggestions for your scary season. These trailers alone are horrifying.

This trailer is even scarier for containing the phrase: “No one does it to you like Roman Polanski.”

Bobcat Goldthwait managed to make an excellent horror film about Bigfoot. No seriously.

Take Back The Living Room: A Holiday Music Rx From Production For Use.

Happy Holidays Everyone. Just in the nick of time this year’s PFU holiday mixes are ready. I have been one out and about in the seasonal atmosphere and have been hearing Christmas music constantly, naturally. What I’ve been shocked to discover is that I really hate most of it. I would say that 80 – 90% of the common radio play holiday music makes me angry. This is particularly ironic since that’s the opposite of its supposed goal and since I own so much holiday music from all sorts of varying styles and time periods. A lot of it is by artists that generally everybody knows…but I never hear much of it. Therefore if my mixes (or at least one of them) are kind of dark this year, my frustration with “popular” holiday music should explain why.

I’m doing something different this year that will hopefully make the mixes a bit handier to everyone. There are 2 versions. One is the actual holiday mix that seemed to make sense this year (PFU #10), but it has quite a few songs that might make it unusable, say, at your grandmother’s house. I’m partial to the first because it has songs that fit many different emotional states, which is generally many people’s condition around the holidays.

But, since not everyone likes to accessorize all emotions (or can’t) there is a second alternate/supplement mix (PFU #011) is that has a far more accessible track list. That way if you only want good, clean holiday songs then you have that option, and if you like both then mixes then you can use the “clean version” when hanging around the family, etc. It’s designed to be an alternative to what other sort of dreadful crap that may be lurking on Christmas radio or dusty parental CD cabinets during your holiday. I hope that everyone gets some enjoyment out of them in one way or another. Enjoy your holidays.
