Halloween Starts Now.

The weather in Houston today finally changed from something other than bullshit, so today will be the first Halloween post. I hope all of you are up to no good.

Here are some horror film suggestions for your scary season. These trailers alone are horrifying.

This trailer is even scarier for containing the phrase: “No one does it to you like Roman Polanski.”

Bobcat Goldthwait managed to make an excellent horror film about Bigfoot. No seriously.

The 75th Anniversary of War of the Worlds

75 years later, the first 40 minutes of this is still terrifying. If you’ve never ever turned the lights out and listened to this, it’s the perfect day to do it.

This broadcast did, after all, change broadcast laws forever and literally scare people to death. It was intended to. They knew that 8 minutes after the hour the more popular program on at that time would break for commercial, so that’s when they landed the martians. Hysteria ensued.

When they told 20-year-old Orson Welles that during the broadcast he replied: “So it’s working. They’re supposed to be scared.”

Boo. We’re Back…and We’re Moving On.

Hello kids. I know it’s been way, way, way too long since I’ve posted anything, but this blog is officially back in business. Due to several reports that the Heartbreak Anthology was bringing the room down, it has been discontinued…well moved. It was a good way to lead off this blog, but the options are so immense that I decided to give the heartbreak mixes their own blog. It’s a blog of all heartbreak music that will be done by me and lots of guests. That way we can cover all of the bases on that subject in terms of gender, race, orientation, etc.

The Heartbreak Blog is called IT’S NOT ME, IT’S YOU. It lives here: http://heartbreakcity.wordpress.com

Now it’s time to get Happy. To atone for such a long absence I’m welcoming everyone back with THREE Halloween mixes, and not a minute too soon. I’m including the Halloween mix that I made last year and two for this year. One is meant to be more generally listenable and the other is specifically designed to scare or at least unnerve whoever is listening to it. There are some fall mixes coming next week. Stay tuned, thanks for coming back, and have a great Halloween.
